Lulu is offering a sale on bulk orders of comic sized books that is just too good for me to not try to hit, and it's only going on until July 14th, so I thought I would see if maybe I can get enough preorders for me to do this!

I've recently created a PDF for my graphic novel La Macchina Bellica and have sent it off to Lulu to get a proof copy.

My proof copy is still in production, but it should arrive before the order deadline so I can check it for errors. Chances are, the books won't be done in time for Otakon, but if I can get enough interest, I can rush the original 25 I was going to order to get them in time for Otakon and then place the sale bulk order, and books could be picked up if desired. (Lulu has a huge jump in production time for orders over 25, and orders under 25 can be rushed and printed the next business day instead of 3-5)

La Macchina Bellica: Volume One
Full color cover (when I get home, I'll upload the wraparound cover. Don't laugh at my book description, it was ad lib. )
143 B&W pages interior

$15 including first class shipping within the USA
$12 per book if I can get over 40 preorders

Deadline for Preorders: Sunday, July 12th, Midnight EST

I need at least 30 @ the $15 to be able to place to order to get the deal, but if I hit 40 I can drop the price down to $12. I'm cross posting this everywhere, so here's to hoping!

For every preorder, I'm going to draw a little picture on the interior title page of whatever character you desire & write a blurb or something (To so and so), and all books will be signed. Just specify in the email who you would like me to draw and who you want the book made out to, and I'll do it! Like, Aubrey dancing, or Perth drinking or something. Something simple. XD

If you're interested, email me the form below at dechanique @ gmail . com. I won't be sending out paypal invoices until Sunday, when I'm sure if I can get the 30 or 40 (so I know what price to charge), but that means I would need payment immediately, since the sale ends July 14th.

Order Form:

name:
shipping address:
paypal invoice:
(optional) Character/To Line:

For international interest: I'm not quite sure how much shipping will be internationally, but since it's going to be in a flat envelope, probably something like $5. Unfortunately, I can't cover shipping internationally.

So tell your mom! Tell your friends! Buy my shit. :P

A TALE OF FAILURE AND DISASTER

I thought I would update the LJ to my DISASTROUS progress on my futa doll.

I realized, as I pulled my first casts, WHY these dolls are not sculpted originally in oil clay. I might have had more success if I hadn't made the mistake during the initial mold making to NOT spray mold release on the mold. That one mistake at the start has totally ruined the doll. @_____@

Because it was so hard to get the strips of metal off the rubber (it was stuck and in some places had to be cut off), I unintentionally warped the clay pieces. So when I repaired them, they were no longer symetrical.

Unfortunately, this was particularly bad in the most important place- the face. The mold is a good 1/4 off on one side.

Casting hollow is also very difficult. @_@ We ran into numerous problems and had to recast so many times just to get the first untinted resin doll. It was so difficult, in fact, that I scrapped the idea of doing dolls for my senior project. Instead, I'm gluing all the pieces together and making her a "Birth of Venus" sculpture (I'm building a giant nautilus shell for her to be falling out of).

I still have the first hollow cast, which I am going to sand and finish for my personal collection (I went through all the trouble of making this damn doll I'm at least going to keep one).

She is 26" tall from top of head to heel. I took a few disasterous pictures to share, and I'll have more once I complete the sculpture and then my personal doll.

From the first cast:

Ohhhh Kelsey and I were too impatient on the legs and made the resin to runny. :(

Notice how off the face is? UGGGHHHHH. It will require so much sanding ;_;

This is from my most recent cast, the face coat has bronze powder in it, so when I buff it and petina it, it will look just like bronze XD Theoretically. Haven't tried this yet. XD

HEAD. FUCKING HUGE. I'm so angry. >:O She looked fine in the clay. T____T I'm hoping the wig will hide the bulbous head when I get around to making it. This one is cast solid for the sculpture and weighs.. ooohhhh... 30lbs. @_@

A close up with my awful iphone. T_T

So.. yeah. I'm not happy with the results, but I'm trying to make it work considering I've invested over 60 hours between sculpting and molds. :\

I've been working on the mold. I'm about 1/3 of the way through. >:|

Here are all the pieces, almost ready to be molded! The clay ring around the pieces is to make a groove in the mold. It helps lock it in place.

I coated all the pieces in shellac. We forgot to put the mold release on- but hopefully it'll still pull off okay :<

The first coating of rubber! We used a two part rubber molding material- smooth on. When the say this stuff sticks to your clothes, they mean it! I totally ruined a cute pair o f capris by sitting in some rubber! XDD

Second coat done and starting to back the molds in plaster! (I actually am almost done backing all the molds in the plaster- except the three piece molds (head, and 2pt torso) which need more rubber).

For real.

It's Moira, from my comic. Um... she's coming out well. I'm.. very happy with her. I'm going to finish her on Thursday (I'm staying at the class until I finish).

She's still really lumpy, but the clay was too warm for me to keep working it. Luckily it's going to be cold all week, so the clay will harden up a little with the cooler temp and be a little more solid.

Here is mostly the diagram.

Headshot!

Torso!
Duckie and I worked so hard on our costumes, but in the end, it was all for naught.

Our sewing machine broke- the tension knob busted and fucked up our stitches.

Duckie's was pretty far along, and looks pretty fucking amazing.

Mine, we didn't really start yet. Mine is really easy to sew and much less complicated, so we were focusing on Duckie's first.
But here is the bodyform we made and the fabric. That tan thing is the underskirt since the fabric I picked for the outside is sliggghhttly see through. I bought it for Perth, who has a 10" head but the wig is a little too small. It shows part of his head in the back and the forehead is up too high. Altogether too small a fit. I'de say it's definite more like 8.5-9.5, not 9-10. Sold out on Dollga. I'm not sure when it will be order again, as it has been over a year since it was for preorder (Feb07). Asking $25

Dollsoom GM007 in 1B

From the website: http://dollsoom.com/shop/step1.php?number=2451
It came with a soom order I made. I offered it to my sister but she decided on a different wig, so I'm putting it up for sale! Still has tag and hairnet attached. Only put on for pictures. Asking $25.

~ Leekeworld Wave Wig~
Wine wig, wavy. These are as is, no original packaging or anything. Most of them are kind of dusty. Most of these I got at anime conventions, I think one or two I got at hot topic when they were selling figures. I tried to wipe them off a little but god damn I had alot of figures.

Trigun

Vash the Stampede, Silver repaint. I got it a while ago, comes with three peice stand, vash, an extra arm and his gun. Oh and kuroneko. Approximately 8" tall. Asking $5

I think the original price on these guys is like $15? I don't remember.

This guy. I don't remember his name. Between 4-5" tall. $5

Zazie the Beast and Midvalley the Horn Freak. Boxes. Nami on the left, Sanji on the right. About 1.5" tall. $1 each.

Naruto

Naruto figures, Kabuto (in the back), Jiraya (middle left), Ino (middle right) and Naruto (Bottom). Sasuke is a free gift, because he can't stand. 1.5-2" tall. $1 each

Hunter X Hunter

I spent FOREVER hunting down these pieces. They are no longer in production and had taken me 4 cons to track down all the figures (this is the full set). Original price varies because of con mark-up. $12 was the price when I bought the first three, $20 when I bought the last two because they had already been discontinued at that point. T_T Asking $8 each, because I like them. Approximately 4-6" tall.

Hellsing

Ceres from Hellsing. Approximately 5" tall. Gun 8". Asking $5.

Full Metal Alchemist

The guy on the left I have two of, one is still in the package. I got a duplicate. Then Hughes and SILVER!Lust. Apparently she was rare, but somehow I got two of her and no normal lust. >_> I gave away the other silver lust to a friend. 3.5" tallish. $2 each.

Sandman

Death from Sandman. 1.5" tall. $2

FLCL

Canti from FLCL. I definitely got this one at hot t opic. 4.5" tall, about. Maybe 5. I'm just eyeballing these things anyways... $8. If no one buys him I won't be heartbroken. I'll put him on my desk at work.

Missing Peices

Gojyo from Saiyuki on the left and Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha on the right. Just offer me on these, I'm not sure what to ask. Both are missing their weapons. I have no idea where they are. Original price on Gojyo was $25, Sesshoumaru was $15 so you can tell me what you would be willing to pay for it.

FREE FIGURES: If you buy over $15 worth of stuff (that includes any of my doll sales), you can pick one of these two figures sets and I'll throw it in.

http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b68/dechanique/for%20sale/?action=view&current=animefigure_saintseiya.jpg
Saint Seiya figures, Ikki has no bangs and Shiryuu is missing a bunch of parts, but the other three are complete, including Shun's chain!

OR

Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki from Tenchi Muyo. I lost her stand and her sword broke, thus making it impossible for her to stand. If ou were crafty you could make a set and glue her on it, but that's about it.

Shipping: For these items it is $5.05 for priority in the USA.
I made a japanese stab bind book for Duckie. It came out pretty awesome. I don't remember how many pages I put in the journal. It's either hemp leaf or tortoise bind. Anyways, book cloth and scrap book paper. The pictures in the front are drawn by me of Duckie and my characters, Traian and Alastair. The long strings in the front were trimmed and tied into a bow before I gave it to her.

Front cover.

Inside front cover.

Back cover.

I also have a few more prints for sale.

"Lady Fleur" 11 X 14
My first print in Serigraphy/Silkscreen class.
I printed my first run of "In the Apple Tree" on arches paper with speedball acrylic ink. Unfortunately, I had used the traditional cutting method of tearing the paper along a ruler, which made registration difficult. I've changed to using straight edged papers (cut with an exacto or paper cutter) but I'm putting up the misprints for sale. They are anywhere from 40% - 60% off what I will charge the good copies for.

Proof Edition of 9. Each print is different and priced according to the problems I encountered and how good the prints look.

Registration Print Sample (this is the image I used to register the others)

Proof 1 of 9: Click for Image ON HOLD
Proof 2 of 9: Click for Image SOLD
Proof 3 of 9: Click for Image $10
Proof 4 of 9: Click for Image $8
Proof 5 of 9: Click for Image $8
Proof 6 of 9: Click for Image $8
Proof 7 of 9: Click for Image $5
Proof 8 of 9: Click for Image $5
Proof 9 of 9: Click for Image $5

Shipping

Each print will be shipped between two pieces of cardboard, wrapped in brown paper.
17 hours of printing labor (and probably 3 hours of drawing the original image) and I have completed the color layers of my screen!

I'm going to use photo emulsion for the black lineart, so bear in mind this is just the color underneath.

I also discovered today that next semester (Fall 08) they are adding a Printmaking curriculum to the Art BFA degree programs. I'm definitely going to be changing my core to printmaking.

As of right now I only have 8 classes left until graduation (but at 2 a semester it will take me 2 years max) but if I change my major I will only have 7 classes left to take (since I've already taken two printmaking levels)!

I'm excited! I hope it all goes through!

MEME + ART!

I'll be in Miami March 13-21! If you wanna hang, drop me a line, my parents promised me a car (not sure which one, but... one of them) so I will be able to travel! My mom reserved me Saturday night, though. Kristal has an art jam thing I want to go to, so I'm hoping mom's bingo night thing ends before it's too late... ;_;

MEME TIME:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick three of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

1) Icon made by paxilam . Um. Totally a huge Zoro X Sanji fan. As dorky as it is, and as much as Alex will probably hate me for it, Zoro and Sanji is my OTP. (in the depths of my sketchbook, i've drawn them too).

2) Icon made by girlgamer. This icon totally made me LOL and went with my one piece theme. Sanji is my favorite character. And he makes the most retarded faces. Meeeeloooorriiinnneee~~~!! <3<3<3

3) From an LJ comic iharthdarth. It was incredibly cute and awesome and I am sad it is over. But this was one of my favorite scenes, and since I could only have 6 icons, i picked it :B

I drew this picture originally just for my silkscreen project, but I love it so much I'm going to color it and it will be the cover for volume one of Macchina!

The inks. The silkscreen won't be as complicated.

12 screens, not including the gold that will go on top of everything for embellishment once I sew the patches onto the shirts. Oh god this is going to take like, forever.

And if you ever doubted that you could get really good at art, take a look at my old stuff:
